Blind Date __TOP__
The show had a format similar to the show known in Australia as Perfect Match or in the US as The Dating Game. Three singles of the same sex were introduced to the audience. They were then asked a question by a single individual of the opposite sex, who could hear but not see them, to choose with whom to go on a date. Before the decision Our Graham (replaced in the final ITV series by Tommy Sandhu), who was never seen, gave an amusing reminder of each contestant. The couple then picked an envelope naming their destination. The following episode showed the couple on their date, as well as interviews with them about the date and each other. Locations ranged from Bognor Regis or a date in an ice cream factory, to Anguilla or the Maldives.
Blind Date
It returned again on 16 October 2013 to celebrate Black's 50-year career in the entertainment industry. This special one-off was part of another programme, The One and Only Cilla Black, presented by Paul O'Grady.[17] Black returned as host, and producers brought back three of the show's most memorable contestants who were still single, giving them a second chance to win a date.[18] However, the couple's date was not shown.
On 29 December 2001, the episode saw contestant Hannarle Davies from Essex propose to Mark Ackerell from Buckinghamshire; after they fell in love on their date to Vienna, Austria.[32] Davies later admitted that the proposal was a joke.[33]
A contestant named Nicola Gill came on the show, claiming she was a temporary secretary, when she was actually a journalist for Cosmopolitan. When Black found out about this, she exposed the truth about Gill's deception on the show, leading Gill to get booed by the audience, and her date to go away in total shock. Her date was later brought back on a different episode and offered a second chance, but as the one choosing from the three girls (as well as going on the holiday to Nepal by himself).[34]
During each episode, people who did not previously know each other at all were paired up and sent off on a blind date. The cameras followed their every move, while commentary in the form of subtitles, animations, and "thought bubbles" was added by the show's producers. The most common "type" of date on the show involved two attractive people in their 20s, one male and one female, who would do 1 or 2 activities before having dinner and (often) hanging out in a jacuzzi, after which the date would end. However, the show did a lot of variations on this theme: many episodes took place in other cities or even other countries, a lot of dates involved same-sex couples or older daters, and there would be dates that were explicitly stated to be "hot dates" or "dates from hell", which reflected the daters becoming physically intimate on the former score and furiously hating each other on the latter one. To the show's credit, it did not make alcohol available to daters who were driving themselves around, while chauffeured contestants were usually free to (and often did) drink a lot of liquor.
From its initial 1999-2006 run, the show ended up having two couples that met on blind dates and later got married; while other couples did date for a while as documented in later "Checking In" segments, the majority of dates ended with the daters stating that there was no connection and there wouldn't be any further dates, while a decent-sized minority did have the daters state they'd like to see each other again but few of those plans were ever confirmed to have taken place.
Maria signs Liz up for a radio station's blind date contest, and the poor girl wins. The radio station ask her to describe her dream man, and deliver a college student from out of town. Their date is conducted in the full glare of the media, and neither are particularly pleased. Meanwhile, Kyle commiserates with Max, and offers him a sip from his hip flask. Max doesn't normally drink, he says... and it turns out that his alien metabolism doesn't handle it at all well. Kyle and Max break into Liz's bedroom, where they are found by Liz, her date... and the radio station people. Much hilarity ensues.
Wanting to help her get over her feelings for Max, Maria enters Liz in a blind date radio contest. Liz wins the contest, and wanting a normal life agrees to go on the date. Unable to forget his feelings for Liz, Max is peer pressured into drinking by Kyle. Max, who has never taken a drink before, becomes drunk with one sip. Max and Kyle bond, as they discuss how each of them can't seem to get over their feelings for Liz. Max and Kyle follow Liz on her date. Still drunk, Max publicly professes the way he feels for Liz. Max then kisses Liz, which instantly sobers him up. Liz asks Max if he meant everything he told her, and Max claims he can't remember what he said.
Madonna was offered the female lead but turned it down because Blake Edwards refused to accommodate her wish to cast then-husband Sean Penn in the film. "I was supposed to have approval of the director and the leading man, but they didn't tell me they'd already hired Bruce Willis. That... just didn't work out," recalled Madonna.
Some movie posters featured a fabricated quote preamble from Bruce Willis' character that read: "Do you recognize me? I used to be a respectable citizen. I had a good job and a promising future. I made only one mistake - I went on a blind date....Anyone got $10,000 for bail?"
The meaning of the movie's Blind Date (1987) title is defined by 'The Free Dictionary' website as "a social engagement between two persons who have not previously met, usually arranged by a mutual acquaintance." In the case of this film, the persons are the characters portrayed by Bruce Willis and Kim Basinger. Their blind date is organized by Willis' brother who sets him up with his wife's cousin who is new in town and wants to go out and socialize, but Willis is warned that if she gets intoxicated, she can lose control and go absolutely wild. Willis only receives one warning from the man who sets him up: "Whatever you do, don't let her drink..."

That's the story of Miss Wang in Zhengzhou, China. A blind date invited her over for dinner. Just as she was leaving, they were told stay put. That date became a shared four-day lockdown as cases climbed nearby. Miss Wang described the situation as not ideal. At least she knows it's not a great match without having to do date two.
